Money remains a very important factor in our lives. I am sure that if we can, we would live without money. However, the world order as it stands today, runs on money. “Money is a good thing” is the principle on which life goes on, in spite of loud speeches to the contrary. If we accept that, then no age is too young to learn the value of it. And the greater way to learn is by earning some.

During the holidays, we are expected to rest and go for vacations. But we could build it into the schedule to spend at least some time earning money. We are living in a land of opportunity and there are many holiday jobs available. Naturally, we should not be too avaricious that we sell our souls. Simple and honest jobs are enough.

The earning of money during the school holidays will make us feel proud and gives us a sense of confidence that we have a few dollars in our pockets that we earned ourselves. The struggle of earning money will teach us how to appreciate money more and make us thrifty. It is good to learn the value of thrift while we are still students.

Finally, the jobs that we do will build self-reliance in us so that we learn to work with others, rather than just live on parental support. It will also give us an understanding about what our parents have to go through to bring home the bread. It is my opinion that earning money during school holidays, through honest work, is good for students. On top of having some spend money, it will also make us more responsible and independent.
